Wonderlust: 2021 SFSU Senior Design Show

Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Animator

I had the honor of having my proposal for selected as the branding and identity of the SFSU School of Design 2021 Senior show.

“Wonderlust,” a term coined for the exhibit, describes the mixture of emotions that graduates may feel while they look toward life after graduation amidst the uncertain state of the world.

Objective

Conceptualize and design the virtual exhibit for SFSU’s 2021 Senior Design show. Fifteen total concepts, created by students in the DES628 Exhibition Design class, will be presented to a panel of judges who will select the final concept for the exhibition.

Approach

When thinking of a concept for this year’s design show, I considered the various emotions and feelings that made up the past year, as well as my own feelings as a graduate. Words to sum up the feelings were wondering, uncertainty, haziness, and navigating an obscured path. The past year was a lot of questions and wondering: “When is the pandemic going to end?” “How is it going to affect our futures?” “How can we use design to create a better future?” Despite this, with graduating also comes a certain excitement with the uncertainty— the excitement of moving onto something new.
